Literary Braille Refresher Course for Teachers and Transcribers, Revised
This course was developed to assist teachers and school transcribers in preparing for state or national competency tests. It is also a useful tool for transcribers and proofreaders who wish to sharpen their braille skills. The course materials have been used in formal review courses as well as by individuals in a self-paced setting. The course includes review and concise summaries of the rules, practice exercises to braille (with answers), braille pages to be proofread, and a section of reference information.

NBA Braille Formats Course, 2008
2nd Edition

Designed as a self-study course, the NBA Braille Formats Course presents the standardized formats required for the transcription of educational materials (textbooks and ancillary materials). The materials include sample pages from textbooks and exercises to format with references to Braille Formats: Principles of Print to Braille Transcription, 1997. A mini-book is also included for practice prior to taking the certification examination.

NBA Braille Formats Certification Examination
Following the completion of the lessons in the NBA Braille Formats Course, the examination is offered. A passing grade for the test will result in certification as a braille textbook transcriber.

NBA Online Braille Transcribing Course
This course is for beginning transcribers and offers support as the student proceeds through the National Library Services (NLS) lessons and manuscript for certification. Free specialized braille software is used using a standard computer, lessons are submitted by email. Each student is assigned a "braille buddy" who provides feedback on the lessons and technical support. The minimum time commitment for study and work on lessons is 1/2 hour each day. Upon completion of the lessons, the student submits to NLS a braille manuscript which is evaluated for certification.
