I came across the following in a math book that I am currently transcribing:
Use money manipulatives or draw a diagram to show how to make $324 with $100 bills, $10 bills, and $1 bills.
There are no examples in the Guidance or elsewhere of anything like this. Therefore, I applied the same logic used in Additional Guidance #5 on measurement units. It seems logical that the word “bills” would be part of the technical expression. Not to include it would result in a lot of code switching. The connecting words “with” and “and” however would need the single-word switch indicator as they are not part of the technical expression. Is my thinking correct?
Example 1:
,use m"oy manipulatives or draw a diagram to %[ h[ to make _% @s324 ,') @s100 bills1 @s10 bills1 ,'& @s1 bills _:4
OR should it be done like it is in the following example?
Example 2:
,use m"oy manipulatives or draw a diagram to %[ h[ to make _% @s324 ,') @s100 ,'bills1 @s10 _: bills1 &
_% @s1 _: bills4

Your thinking is logical and clearly explained. However, it is not quite in line with the Guidance for Transcription Using the Nemeth Code within UEB Contexts. This is because #5 under Additional Guidelines in the Guidance applies to standard units of measure, namely those from the US customary units system, the metric system, and the International System of Units.
So, the braille you provided in your Example 2 is correct.
