ELI needed?

      Hello,
      I am doing a math test which has a table, then questions. The two table headings are: t(minutes) and T(temperature). In print, the letters are unspaced from their meanings in parenthesis. Do I need an ELI in front of the t and the T?

        If you are going to braille them unspaced from the opening parenthesis, you will not need the ELI because the letters are then not single letters. (If you remove the parenthesis, the ELI would not be required.)
