I come across this type of example frequently and thought I’d take the time to ask for your advice.
When the fraction is 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, etc. there usually isn’t an issue with the labeling. But as the fraction is broken down into smaller parts–1/12–labeling becomes an issue. What is the best way to deal with this?
A 3-page .pdf file is attached for you to view 3 different possibilities.
1. You could use lead lines and stagger the labels over 2 lines of braille. 2. You could rotate the image so that the labels fit. 3. You could use a key for one or two of the fractions. This should only be used if the key is on the same braille page as the graphic. It is not the best option, as the student would have to refer back to the key.
