Hello,

UEB 11.4.1 defines an item in several bullet points. The first states:

“An entire number, i.e., the initiating numeric symbol and all succeeding symbols within the numeric mode thus established (which would include decimal points, commas, and simple numeric fraction lines).”

With that in mind, is it acceptable to terminate the first numeric symbol with a numeric terminator and then begin a new numeric symbol (not superscripted)?

Here is the issue: I have a superscript number that is immediately followed by a regular number, with no space between them. My proposed solution is to insert a numeric terminator (or a grade 1 terminator), then repeat the numeric indicator before the regular number to begin a new item. Is this the correct approach? I have not been able to find any guidance that specifically addresses this situation.

I have attached both print and braille examples for reference.
