Section 3 of BANA’s Guidance on Transcribing Mathematics and Science in UEB, approved May 2026, explicitly refers us to Braille Formats (BF) for displayed literary text. It goes on by encouraging us to look at BF §9.2 for displayed material. It does not specifically mention whether or not blank lines are required.
As a result, we would defer to Braille Formats in this matter, specifically §9.2.a which explicitly directs us to “[i]nsert a blank line before and after displayed material”.
