Maybe this has been answered before, but I can’t seem to find it. If I have an opening NC indicator followed by multiple braille pages that are all still in Nemeth, does Nemeth stay in effect until I close it? I have a few tables that are all in Nemeth and, even though they are on a single print page, they cover multiple braille pages.

And while we’re at it, what if I had multiple PRINT pages that were all in Nemeth? My guess is that in both cases Nemeth stays in effect until the closing indicator, but I want to make sure that’s really the case. Is this addressed somewhere that I’ve missed?

Hi Laurie. You are correct — Nemeth stays in effect until you close it with a Nemeth Code terminator. A page change (print or braille) does not terminate Nemeth Code.

The “Guidance” does state that neither indicator should be separated from what it applies to (point 11 on page 11). In other words, don’t end a page (print or braille) with an opening Nemeth Code indicator, and don’t start a page (print or braille) with a Nemeth Code terminator.
