Formula for surface area of cone

    When brailling the formula for the surface area of a cone, the formula includes a italicized l for slant height. Normally we use "l" to represent length. Should the "l" in the the surface area of a cone be marked differently?

    You don't have to do anything special for this letter l. It is a variable which is why it is italicized.
