Hello, I'm transcribing a gardening book. There is a list of icons at the beginning of the book, and the icons show up before paragraphs, bulleted points, and textboxes within the book (see attachments). Since the icons include a name as well as a picture, what's the best way to represent them in braille? Should I use the transcriber-defined shape symbol (4, 1246)? Or could I just insert the capitalized icon name before the text it applies to, which a transcriber's note explaining that?

    Thank you!

Either way would be correct.  If the icons are used extensively throughout the text, the icons are less intrusive into the actual text.  Pick a way and then be consistent.

Sounds like a fun and interesting text to transcribe!

OK, I'll go with the icons. Thanks for the quick advice, Cindi!

    Best wishes, Greta
