Interruption of an emphasized passage

When an emphasized passage is interrupted by footnotes, do you need to terminate the typeform before the footnote separation line and open the emphasis again on the new page where the passage resumes?

After much deliberation and discussion, we are (mostly) agreed that the passage would need to be terminated and restarted after the footnote.
