We have had recent conversation about whether or not to include a continuation when a list item continues to the next page.
In this example, I have chosen to use a list for items 1 through 4. Item three starts on page 13, and continues to the next page.
While we have not been able to find a rule that specifically says to exclude the “3. Experiment and gather data. (cont.)” text, it seems to make sense from a reader’s standpoint. The closest rule I have been able to find is 4.3.10 in Formats, which states…
4.3.10 Centered, cell-5, and cell-7 headings are not repeated when the text that applies to them is continued on the following page.
There is also 1.1.1, which states…
…This document is a set of guidelines that should be used to make structuring decisions. As print is evolving constantly, it is neither possible nor practical to provide directives for all potential transcription problems. Today’s transcriber will encounter unique print conventions and is expected to use experience and judgment in adapting the best practices provided in these guidelines when encountering situations not covered here.
I would not be as concerned if both print pages appeared on the same braille page, with a page break appearing mid page.
One might argue that if the reader were directed to print page 14, they would not know this is a continuation from the previous page. However, item 4 appears further down the page, which would suggest this is continued from the previous page.
In addition, since there is no specific rule, some may simply say, “Follow print”.
I have included a PDF of the original document, as well as a JPG of the pages in Braille2000, which shows the line in question (braille page 35, line 2).

Thank you!Great question. Braille Formats does not state this directly, but repeated text of this type is ignored. Your braille page 25 should begin with the subitem.
Main items, as in your sample, whether they appear in a list, exercise, outline, or index, are not repeated simply because of a page change indicator.
