August 2023 Webinars

Join us this month for these four free webinars!

These webinars are entirely free to anyone and don’t require registration. As long as you have an internet connection, you can click the join link below each description a few minutes before start time, and you’re in! These are intended to run short, so the content portion is typically around 15 minutes long, and then there’s a few minutes for any questions. We want you to be able to learn some new tricks without having to take a lot of time out of your busy day!

We hope you’ll be able to join us live, but if you can’t, remember that we record all our webinars. Those recordings are housed in the archive, and are available to current NBA members. If you want to watch later, just sign in with your member account, navigate to the skills area you’re looking for, and hit play! If you’re not a member and want access to training videos, checkout this page for more info about membership.

Tactile Graphics

Simplifying Maps

Presenter: Michigan Braille Transcribing Fund
Date: Tuesday, August 29th at 12:15p ET

Description: This webinar will reinforce the concepts that less is not always more and, in some occurrences, more can end up being less. We will show the balance needed between the creativity of Tactile Graphic Artists and the specificity desired by Braille Transcribers in relaying information. As Transcribers we can sometimes error by over simplifying in the name of clarity, creating confusion for the student, while making our processes easier. A few simple steps can alleviate some of the confusion created by Transcriber discretion.
