    We are looking at the Graphing Calculator Guidelines and are having trouble understanding why ELIs are used in a couple of the Samples. In Sample 9 (starting on page 36 of the guidelines), spaces need to be included in the <u>X, T, </u><u>θ, n</u> keystroke due to the commas. In the braille sample (pg 40; lines11, 16 and 20), they include ELIs on the X and n and I don’t understand why since it doesn’t seem as if they would be considered single-letters according to the Nemeth Definition of “Single Letter.”

    I noticed it may have modified the underlined portion so I attached it in a word doc as well.

    I understand your question and I agree with you that these letters do not qualify as "single letters" according to Nemeth Rule 6.3.1. Since I was not on the committee who wrote the Graphing Calculator Guidelines, I would like to check with them to be sure I have not missed something in those rules. I'll get back to you ...
