PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE
Professional Development Conferences are held in the fall of each year in various cities in the United States. These conferences are the sites for workshops which enable participants to improve their skills and learn more about braille code revisions, new techniques, software, hardware, and production equipment. Social functions offer the additional stimulation of informal visits with NBA members, members of other organizations, and agencies.

Join the National Braille Association and other braille transcribers, teachers of the visually impaired, prison braille program managers and other producers of braille from around North America. In 2025 our annual Professional Development Conference will be located at The Summit hotel in Cincinnati, Ohio. This year the National Braille Association will be commemorating the 80 year anniversary of our founding as an organization. We're hoping to make this conference extra special to celebrate!

10/29/25- 10/31/25: The conference begins Wednesday the 29th and ends on Friday the 31st. On the 29th and 30th, workshops begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. On the 31st, workshops begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m. Following the final workshops on the 31st, there will be a closing luncheon. After the luncheon there will be an optional group tour (details of the tour are yet to be determined).

The Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC), situated in the landmark Art Deco Union Terminal, is a dynamic multi-faceted institution offering something for everyone. This major cultural anchor of Cincinnati encompasses the Cincinnati History Museum, Library and Archives, The Children's Museum, the Museum of Natural History & Science, and the immersive OMNIMAX® Theater, drawing over 1.8 million visitors annually.
Friday, October 31st, 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Join your fellow conference participants for an optional excursion to the Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC). On Friday, October 31st, participants on the tour will board a private bus at 1:30 p.m. Following a drive of approximately 20 minutes, we will reach the CMC. After arriving, we will have from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to visit the Auschwitz Exhibit. From 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., we will enjoy a guided tour of the Holocaust and Humanity Center. The return trip on the private bus is scheduled for 5:00 p.m., aiming to be back at the hotel by 5:30 p.m. Participation in this tour is limited to the first 50 people who register.
