In the Technical Guidelines the "arrow over" only shows a right-pointing arrow (see p.72) in the example for vectors. What about a left-pointing arrow, or a double arrow (east/west)? Why isn't this shown inside the grouping symbols?

I intend to use:  AB(156) + arrow symbol (without any grouping symbols).  - unless you have a better suggestion. That means the arrow over symbol on p. 72 will not be used because that arrow would be very different from the normal symbols I'll use for the left and double arrows.

This is an example of an INCOMPLETE code. It is frustrating to have to hunt for the simplest things then find nothing suitable. Transcriber defined indicators (which I'm not fond of) have already been used for other things.

    Hi Julie,

Thank you for your information, very helpful. After my first post I got to thinking about "grouping signs" and decided they were needed to make AB an item, so no problem there.

The entire subject of "over" (and "under) is a lot clearer now but I still have a couple of questions and suggestion which I added to an attachment in order to show the simbraille.

I have a blind friend who is also studying UEB and she prefers my construction of a right arrow over as opposed to the example on p.72. (in attachment)

    Thanks, Fred

    Hi Fred,

I can see you've put a lot of thought into this. There are reasons why the symbols are the way they are, however. Please see my comments in the attachment.

    Regards,

    Julie

    Thanks Julie,

When the construction details are understood the symbol then makes sense.
