I came across the "Teacher's Reference Materials" on page xi of the Early Education Materials. Am I understanding correctly that there needs to be a print page, inserted at the front of the braille volume, with "Teacher's Reference Materials" centered on it or is this  referring to the SS page and Transcriber's Note pages? If it is an actual page, is there supposed to be anything else on it and is there supposed be a corresponding braille page for it? Clarification would be much appreciated.

The Teacher's Reference Materials are Print pages of the braille front matter pages: the title page, the Special Symbols page and the Transcriber's notes page. Also included are PRINT versions of the all of the transcriber's notes that occur within the volume (referencing page numbers where the notes are found).

Thank you for that clarification but what is meant by 4.3.2a? It sounds like it is a separate titled page.

It means to add the heading to the first print page after the title page (usually the Special Symbols page or the 2nd title page). Normal braille volumes only include the print title page - since Early Learning requires more than that, the extra heading is added.

Thank you so much. That is not what I was getting from what was written. I appreciate your help.

I have a huge ELM project so I want to get everything right. I am attaching the page that would be the first inkprint page which is the Special Symbols page with the Teacher's Reference Materials as the 1st heading. Is this correct? and Teacher's Reference Materials only appears on the 1st inkprint page not all of the inkprint pages correct?

Also the 2nd attachment is one of the books that I will be working on. Most print pages in Set 1 have only a couple words on them. It is a leveled reader, is that considered a Storybook? If it is, in Guideline 11.1.4 it says to start each new print page on a new braille page so that means only one to two words on some pages. Is that also correct?

Yes, your print page look good.

Storybooks are usually things that are meant to be taken out of the book and folded and/or stapled into a small book. Half of a page may even be upside down. The file you attached was took big and didn't come through, but from what you described, what you have does not sound like a storybook.

I am attaching another pdf so you can see the book. The info you described to me in the last message sounds like it could be the mini-books. Are the storybooks and mini books the same? There was not description of what a storybook is. I chatted with my Supervisor and she said do once again verify.

No - I'm attaching a page that would use the storybook format...notice how on this page, it shows pages 1, 3, 6 and 8 of the storybook? This is because when you cut/fold it, the pages are in the right order.

It looks like the file didn't load - I'm trying a zip version...

I will look at your example now. Thank you. I uploaded my example as a word doc. Hopefully you'll be able to open it this time.
