Continuation Indicator and Grade 1 indicator with an email address

I have an impressor that had an email address, I had to break the email at the “.com”, I inserted a continuation indicator, but I did not use a grade 1 indicator at the “.” because I told them it was a continuation of the email address and “.com” could not be read as “discom”. Is this correct format?

Technically you do not need a grade 1 indicator before the dot because of the continuation indicator in the email address. Personally, I would try to split the email address in a different place.
