Hi. I can't find the exact example I am looking for in the Literary Manual under 13.6 Telephone numbers. In the following number: (123)-456-7890 does the parentheses terminate the number indicator so that I would use it again after the first hyphen? In other words would it be open parentheses, number indicator 123, close parentheses, hyphen, number indicator 456 ...
    Thank you,
    Sue

There is an excellent example of this in EBAE on page VI-4. The number sign is repeated after the close parenthesis.
BANA’s 2007 Updates page L23 says that commas, colons, hyphens, fraction lines, decimals or slashes do not terminate the number indicator. You can then assume that any other punctuation will.
