I have a question on Rule 10.3.3. This rule states that numbered or lettered directions are in 1-5. Additional paragraphs are in 7-5.
The example shows lettered directions and their numbered sub-items. What if a situation occurs where the lettered directions have no sub items making them as a 1-3 list according to normal list rules? Or when the sub-items have sub-items making it a 3 level situation which would make it a 1-7, 3-7, 5-7 situation?
Could we format the numbered directions according to normal list and nested list rules or is the 1-5 format in Rule 10.3.3 the only option for numbered directions?
    Thank You

Let's just look at the 10.3.3 actually says. Numbered or lettered directions are in 1-5. IF additional paragraphs are present, they are in 7-5. If additional paragraphs are NOT present, nothing happens! The numbered directions remain in 1-5 because their exercises items are the subentries in 3-5. The additional paragraphs in directions has nothing to do with it.

If you have a specific situation that is causing confusion on this point, please send the actual print page and we can look at this again.
