    Good morning Julie,

I am trancribing a Spanish book using UEB uncontracted braille (everything in UEB except accented letters question mark and exclamation mark). They used bullet, square and arrow to list items. Per Braille Format 8.6.2 rule I have to use the shapes as in print. My question is do I need to have dots 46 before the shape indicator?  Since I am using uncontracted braille, I think I dont need it but I need to make sure.

    Thank you very much

    Hi Tung,

The grade 1 symbol indicator (dots 56, not 46) before the shape and arrow indicators is probably not necessary in that situation, though it couldn't hurt, either.

    Braille on,

    Julie
