single and double quotes

      What is the rule when single quotes and double quotes are together?

      ...the human frame to endure it.'"

      I might be overthinking this. It is just that I remember there being a sign that indicated a separation in the punctuation.

        There is no symbol to separate the punctuation, they follow one another with no space between as in print
