    Subject: Slide Presentations §6.13

There is a discrepancy for Slide Presentations that we would like clarification on:

On page 6-12 of Braille Formats, Principles of Print-to-Braille Transcription, 2011, §6.13.1.d states “Speaker’s notes, if included, are in 7-5. Notes begin with the identifier Notes, enclosed in transcriber’s notes symbols, with the notes continuing on the same line.”

In the braille example for Sample 6-16, on page 6-39, it shows the speaker’s notes below each PowerPoint slide blocked to the margin in 1-1.

Which is the proper format, blocked to the margin in 1-1 as shown in the sample or placed in 7-5 as the rule states?

    Thank you, for your time.

I have conferred with Cindi Laurent who is the chair of the BANA Formats Technical Committee and the chair of the NBA Formats Committee as well. She confirms that this is corrected in the Formats Errata, posted on the BANA website and available to download. http://www.brailleauthority.org. The note should be in 7-5 in the example.
