The book I am transcribing has the following sentence.

The symbol ___ indicates an nth root.

The blank is mine. The book shows a small letter n in the index of the radical sign. There is no radicand. Do I use the omission indicator for the radicand and the termination sign? I sure hope this makes sense to you!

The Code says that the termination indicator must not be used when the radical sign occurs without a radicand. If there is no vinculum, you would just show what is actually in print: the index of radical symbol, the index number, and the radical sign, as follows.

    [braille],! SYMBOL <N> 9DICATES AN ;NTH ROOT4
