The words “the arc whose sine is” are abbreviated as arcsine. We further shorten arcsine to arcsin. I understand that I cannot ever contract arcsin because it is an abbreviated function name. I don’t think that “sine” or either of the uses of “arcsine” are in a mathematical context, and therefore I can contract. Am I correct?
