Register Now for the 2024 Professional Development Conference
Each fall, the National Braille Association delivers a three-day professional development conference for braille transcribers, teachers of the visually impaired, and others involved in the preparation of braille. The event attracts people from across North America for a rigorous series of workshops, which represent the highlight of our entire year.
For 2024 we’ve made some changes to the format of the conference and even added a bonus day! We’re confident that the planning we’ve put into this year’s event will result in a training opportunity like no other.
If you’ve been patiently waiting to register for this October’s conference, your wait is over! Here’s everything you’ll need to know for joining us and how to register as an attendee.
Where
This year the conference will be held at The Antlers Hotel in Colorado Springs.
Except for an optional tour on Friday afternoon, all events related to the conference will be located at The Antlers. We’ve arranged for special pricing on overnight accommodations at the hotel. Please note that the special pricing is available for a limited number of rooms. When
The main conference event will begin on Wednesday, October 23rd, and continue through Friday, October 25th, 2024. There is also an optional event planned for Tuesday, October 22nd.
Outline Of Events
On Tuesday, October 22nd, there will be an optional full-day training on the new Nemeth Code update.
Beginning the morning of Wednesday, October 23rd, there will be two-and-half days of training ‘Strands’. Rather than selecting from dozens of different workshop topics, attendees will select from one of three options that each focus on a specific subject area. Attendees will remain in their selected ‘Strand’ throughout the duration of the conference, which concludes mid-day on Friday, October 25th.
On Friday afternoon, there is an optional tour that includes a ride on the historic Cog Railway to the top of Pike’s Peak.
Attendees who select the “Full Conference” option will be included in group luncheons on Wednesday and Thursday.
Pricing
Full Day Nemeth Code Update – $100.00
Full Conference – $345.00 now until August 31, 2024. $370.00 for registration between September 1, 2024 and September 30, 2024. $395.00 for any registration made from October 1, 2024 or later. (Note: non-NBA members pay an additional $25.00 registration fee.)
Strand Only – $225.00 now until August 31, 2024. $250.00 for registration between September 1, 2024 and September 30, 2024. $275.00 for any registration made from October 1, 2024 or later. (Note: non-NBA members pay an additional $25.00 registration fee.)
Hard Copy Materials Fee – $50.00 (for print or braille)
Optional Half-Day Tour – $85.00
