    Hi,

In the fifth chapter of 2018 Braille Formats Study Guide the Braille Bit for that chapter has the phrase “I walked” etc in script, and uses the Script Word Indicator for the word “I”. However, in The Rules of Unified English Braille, Second Edition 2013 (specifically, 9.2.2) the example uses a Symbol Indicator for “I”.  I'm assuming one or the other of these is officially correct, and this is not actually a "gray area" in UEB transcription (though, personally, I can see legitimate arguments for both sides). Clarification on this point would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Rebekah,

The UEB code takes preference for the treatment of "I" in these cases--follow the examples in 9.2.1 and 9.2.2.

    Braille on,

    Julie
