    4.NBT.4

    [braille]#4.",n,b,t".4

Decimals are used instead of periods. The first decimal is followed by a multipurpose indicator because what follows the decimal is non-numeric. The final decimal is preceded by a multipurpose indicator to show that the .4 is on the baseline. NBT is single capped following the BANA update for transcribing abbreviations consisting of an unspaced combination of numbers and letters.

Yes, the spacing is correct for both numbers and words as discussed in the CTEBVI journal. When something is addressed in the Nemeth Code, the rules of the Nemeth Code are followed. Braille Formats is followed for all other situations.

It is difficult to answer hypothetical questions. It is recommended that for multiplication problems with carried numbers we follow the guidelines for carried numbers in addition.

There is no print. It's a hypothetical question of the multiplication problem in the post.

Could you include a picture of your print?

I have always drawn these little arrows, leaving extra space between the numbers where the arrows are inserted. It is best not to draw curved arrows.

You are correct in your understanding that at least one line of the directions must appear on the same braille page as the exercise that follows. Whether you move one line of the directions to the next page, or the entire direction paragraph, is really up to you. There is no requirement that the whole direction paragraph is moved to the next page. If you are taking the Nemeth test, follow the rules.

The BF guideline about keeping questions and answers together does apply to Nemeth transcriptions.

Yes, in both of those situations, you would leave a blank line following the directions or cell 5 heading if what follows is spatial or otherwise requires a blank line, like a 2 column list.

Nemeth arrows are not pointing arrows. Don't use the arrows in these circumstances unless you want to draw them. They are not necessary.

It is not a good idea to put any extra indicators into math expressions. It just clutters up the material and makes it hard to read for understanding. The highlighted (blue) parts of the expression are explained in the comments that accompany each step.

I have attached a suggestion. Keep in mind, I am always open to discussion.

The English Letter Indicator would not be used with the Roman numeral I because, in this case, it does not meet the criteria for "single letter". You are correct to insert a multipurpose indicator between the decimal point and the non-numeric symbol (letter)that follows it.

I checked with the graphics experts and found that: the horizontal values would be on the left side of the now-vertical number line; no numeric indicators, and the values right-justified beside the line. The smallest value would be at the bottom.

Oops. I looked at this question and consulted to get an answer, then forgot to respond. I would put the C below the number line -- it is just substituting for the actual number in this case. Although I can see that the C would be easier to find if it were above the number line.

Yes. If you are going to maintain the emphasis, you would use the open and close Nemeth boldface indicators. Literary boldface indicators are not used in Nemeth.

My advice would be to use the diamond symbol. Otherwise you are just guessing at what the symbol stands for, since I gather that it is not defined in your text.
