ParticipantI believe the current guideline is that the pronunciations should stay on one braille line if it will all fit on one line...you should only divide it between braille lines if it will not fit.

ParticipantI've asked the committee and we wondered if we could see the inside title page of the book and the copyright page...this is a tough one!

ParticipantI had to check with a couple of others on this one 🙂
The issue here is that there is no way for the reader to know which closing grouping indicator goes with which opening indicator. Â I think what you have done is ok...but a transcriber's note should be included to let the reader know that one of the "groups" is inside another one.

Participant8.3.5d has been removed from Braille Formats 2016 (or will be in the final version). Â You can divide a list between braille pages.

ParticipantWe have clarified the wording...you may split a list between braille pages...but you must have at least two items from the list on a braille page (8.3.5) if the list starts at the bottom of a braille page.

ParticipantThe first list you reference are the REQUIRED symbols. Â The other list is what we are recommending as needed for newer readers of UEB. Â As the agency/transcriber, the decision to include the symbols on the second list is yours to make. Â At my agency, we include them for the most part.

Participant- I would say that since the numbers are consecutive, I would consider them one "section" of text and I would do them all as 1-5, 3-5.  But, as the transcriber, you get to decide what is a section. 🙂
- You wrap based on the volume...so volume 2 might have runovers in cell 7, volume 3 runovers might be in cell 9.
- The definition on the special symbols page should say something like "acute accent above following letter". Â That would apply to either a capital letter or a lowercase letter.

ParticipantThank you for being honest that this is for your manuscript. Â As such, I cannot give you a specific answer. Â But I can tell you some general things about headings. Â According to 4.2 in Braille Formats, "centered headings are used to represent the print headings of major sections of the text, and cell 5 and cell 7 headings are used to represent the print headings for subsections shown within major sections". Â There is no rule that says "this type of print MUST be this type of heading". Â It is up to the transcriber to determine, based on the material being transcribed, what is a major heading and what is a sub heading. Â I would suggest reading carefully through section 4 of Braille Formats for more information (and examples) on headings. Â Then decide how you will do your headings and be consistent.
As a side note, I'm doing a webinar on headings this Friday 🙂  1:00 Eastern.  There is a blog about it on the website.

ParticipantSee 1.6.5g and Example 1-6 on page 1-8 of BF 2016. The other rules are still applied (The End cannot be on a page by itself so if your end matter end on line 24 you need to bring one line to the next braille page, etc).

ParticipantThe committee decided to make the Table of Contents (cont.) an exception to the rule requiring that added text needs to be within transcriber's note indicators. Â Another exception to this rule is with guide word text. Â The reason these two items were determined to be "different" is that the puzzle transition is usually on a line by itself so the added cells required for TN indicators is rarely a problem. Â With Table of Contents and guide word text, space can be an issue.

ParticipantSorry for the delay...I was checking around to see if I was way off base before I answered 🙂
My suggestion for this is to put
Section 1 ...
Chapters 1-12 ...
Blank line
TN Volume 2 TN
Chapters 13-20
I know that it is not strictly following print, but it makes clear to the reader where the material can be found.

Yes, a list item can be split between braille pages...

ParticipantYes, a nested list can be divided between braille pages. Â So can a simple list if it's long.

ParticipantSorry for the delay - I was asking around for advice. Â We recommend doing an "original" and "revised" version for that grade level.
Another suggestion is based off the old Promising Practices that used to be posted on the APH website. Â It's sort of a modified Original and revised. Â I attached a picture.

ParticipantI would say it applies to the logo - but I would probably put it with the name on the title page.  Just an opinion though 🙂 There are no rules about this!
